I do like it was yesterday and I was a million miles away from Ground Zero. I recall riding in my van, listening to Moby in the Morning (that was the #1 country morning show here in the ATL for those of you who do not know...the man got canned from the station basically for being TOO American?!?! Whatever!! He loves his country and the serviceman, without doubt...anyway, I digress!). They mentioned something had hit the WTC. That was just AWFUL! I went about my morning and went into Target and they had an *ETRADE booth with CNN on and that is when we saw the 2nd tower struck. And it just rolled on from there, the Pentagon and Flight 93. I remember there were about 20 of us (anyone that was at the checkouts at the time, including Target employees) glued to the TV. We could not believe what our eyes were seeing. The radio was having a hard time keeping up with everything. I went home, leaving Zan at school but really really wanting to go get him but wanting to focus and grasp what was happening. My tv was on Peter Jennings just about the entire day. My head hurt for days. My brother and his girlfriend at the time were out of the country. He said that anyone that they ran into that day were very sympathetic for the country. It seemed like it would be forever that they would make it home, but they did, safe and sound.
Today I will say an extra prayer and I will cry a lot. I will never forget what happened. I can not wrap my mind around people who think that those in NY have forgotten, or that the US has forgotten.
God Bless.
